Why Spay and Neuter? This is the Key to stopping the over-population of unwanted animals. Every month, local shelters and animal control facilities must euthanize tens of thousands of unwanted dogs and cats (comprised mostly of strays or animals abandoned by their owners). Just as important, there are several health benefits for spaying/neutering your dog or cat. Spaying a dog or cat greatly reduces the risk for various cancers, including mammary (breast) cancer, testicular cancer and prostate problems. Spaying and neutering reduces unwanted litters. It may also reduce undesirable behaviors such as marking, animal aggression, and roaming. A Welcome Home Animal Rescue spays/neuters ALL their animals prior to adoption; if the cat/dog is a very young animal, they may adopt out on trial only until all vaccines/spay/neuter has been completed. |
